Bienvenidos al sitio web oficial de artes plásticas
In this painting, figures dance outdoors under a large bright orb. The dancers experience a spiritual moment as they hover just above the Earth, which bathed in blood and light, looks as alive as they know it to be.
The painting shown above will be included in the 2013 Summer National Exhibition at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art.

STATEMENT
My artwork is greatly influenced by the indigenous cultures of the Americas, particularly the Mesoamerican Mexika (Aztec) culture, which I study and appreciate, not only as part of my heritage, but also because native american cultures promote harmony with nature, with one's community, and with oneself. Studying those cultures has helped me form the unique iconography of my work. A reflection of my bi-cultural and bilingual experience of being raised by Mexican family in the United States, my artwork encourages alternate ways of interpreting both our ephemeral experiences and the illusions that surround us.
My sources of inspiration also include: personal experiences, spiritual and philosophical thoughts, concern for the state of the environment and our Earth, social issues affecting the Mexican and Latino community in the United States, worldwide social issues affecting oppressed communities, my opposition to hypocrisy and injustice, and artwork by artists from all over the world, particularly: Mexican artists, Chicana (Xicana) and Chicano (Xicano) artists involved in the Chicano Movement, Latinamerican artists, the movement and texture of Van Gogh's later oil paintings, and the power and freedom of Frida Kahlo's artwork.
